AI Tools
Generate game-ready content from simple descriptions. Useful for prep, useful mid-session when your players go somewhere unexpected.

Monster generation
Describe what you need in plain language and get a full D&D 5e stat block with balanced CR, abilities, and actions.

Monster images
Generate artwork for your creatures. Helpful for tokens, handouts, or giving your players something to look at besides your poker face.
Iterative refinement
Not quite right? Adjust the result with follow-up prompts. Add a breath weapon, bump the CR, change the lore — without starting over.
Session recaps
Record your session audio and get an AI-generated recap with key events, NPC interactions, and plot points. Never write session notes from memory again.
Campaign-aware generation
AI uses your campaign description and existing content as context, so generated creatures and NPCs feel like they belong in your world.
Generation history
Every generation is saved with the prompt you used. Browse, reuse, or pick up where you left off.
Our approach to AI
We know the D&D community has strong feelings about generative AI — and we think those feelings are valid. Here's how we think about it.
What we use AI for
AI in PlaneFoundry generates game mechanics: stat blocks, encounter balance, session recaps from your audio. It handles the mechanical and repetitive parts of prep so you can focus on the creative work that makes your table unique.
How it works
We use OpenAI's models. You provide a description, the AI generates structured game content. Your prompts and outputs are stored in your account — we don't use them to train models.
On artists and creators
AI image generation is a tool, not a replacement for the artists who make this hobby beautiful. We don't claim otherwise. If you have a favorite artist, commission them. If you need a quick token for Tuesday's session, we can help with that.
It's optional
AI features are there if you want them. PlaneFoundry works just as well if you never touch them — the campaign management, maps, and combat tools stand on their own.
